Present Perfect Continuous Tense

Present perfect continuous tense adalah tense yang digunakan untuk menyatakan aksi yang telah selesai pada suatu titik di masa lalu atau aksi telah dimulai di masa lalu dan terus berlanjut sampai sekarang. Aksi pada tense ini biasanya memiliki durasi waktu tertentu dan relevan dengan kondisi sekarang.

Rumus:
Positive (Verbal): S + have/has + been + Ving + Complement
Positive (Nominal): S + have/has + been + being + Adj/noun/adverb
Negative (Verbal): S + have/has + been + Ving + Complement
Negative (Nominal): S + have/has + not + been + being + Adj/noun/adverb
Interrogative (Verbal): Have/has + S + been + Ving + Complement?
Interrogative (Nominal): Have/has + S + been + being + Adj/noun/adverb?

Notes:

  • Have digunakan ketika subject (s) berupa I, you, they, dan we. Sedangkan has digunakan ketika subject (s) berupa she, he, dan it.
  • Ada kata kerja yang tidak bisa digunakan di tense ini yaitu kata kerja jenis stative verb.

Contoh:

  • I have been reading books.
  • Has she been buying a new utensil?
  • They haven’t been cleaning the classroom.

Penggunaan Present Perfect Continuous Tense
Untuk menunjukkan aksi yang telah selesai pada suatu titik di masa lampau diikuti dengan relevansinya dengan kondisi saat ini.

  • My friend and I are hungry since we have been finishing our homework.
  • We feel exhausted as we have been doing this hard experiment.
  • He and his family have been living in poverty since their company went bankrupt.

Untuk menunjukkan aksi yang baru saja selesai (biasanya menggunakan kata sifat ‘just’).

  • It has just been raining hard.
  • She has just been leaving this place.

Untuk menunjukkan aksi yang telah dimulai di masa lampau dan berlanjut sampai sekarang.

  • Why haven’t you been attending English classes for the last two weeks?
  • I’ve been waiting for you in this restaurant for an hour.
  • Adian has been studying physics since two hours ago.
